A theme of Positive Action inside Northamptonshire Police, is ensuring that everybody feels welcome, supported and part of a close-knit family. Our aim is to continue to develop a culture in which everyone is looking out for and encouraging each other.
As part of the initiative, several support groups have been created by our staff. Although this is not a complete list (more are being created all the time), it demonstrates the growing diversity of our team, and our commitment at every level to continue breaking down barriers in terms of background, ethnicity, sexuality and religion.
Every month the heads of these groups get together under the All Staff Support Network banner to discuss their issues, activities, plans and successes. By doing this, groups can inspire and encourage each other, and work together where there’s a strong crossover.
In addition to our internal groups, there are many external police support groups which are always available to share experiences, advise, guide and simply be a friend at every level.
Again, this is not a complete list, but an example of how all groups within the police are working to give absolutely everybody who joins us a place to turn should they need it.
